Four out of five disabilities are invisible. In a team of thirty people, several colleagues may be living with partial deafness, a chronic illness, a dysregulation disorder, or great fatigue. No one notices. A team building designed for «everyone» often leaves these people on the sidelines without the organizer realizing it.
The 30th European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH) takes place from November 16 to 22, 2026. This is the right time to review how you organize your collective time. At Public Anim, we design customized events for groups ranging from 10 to 200 people. Here’s what we implement to ensure that a cohesion activity works for every participant, from the choice of venue to the microphone.
SEEPH 2026 takes place from Monday 16 to Sunday 22 November. LADAPT, the’Agefiph and the FIPHFP They organize it together. LADAPT launched the event 30 years ago. The theme of this anniversary edition is «Demystifying, simplifying, supporting. Employment for all.» The organizers want to make the support systems more readable for employers and for the people concerned. Official communiqué from SEEPH 2026 details these objectives.
During the week, forums, workshops and meetings are taking place all over France. You will find the events closest to you in The agenda of My Disability Journey.
The figures explain the interest of HR for this week. Companies with 20 or more employees must employ 6% disabled workers. In 2024, the direct employment rate in the private sector reached 4%, with 720,800 employees benefiting from the employment obligation, according to the Figures from Dares reported by Tissot Editions. The unemployment rate for people with disabilities remains at 12%, compared to 7% for the entire active population.
Recruiting isn’t enough. An employee must also find their place in the informal moments of the company. A afterwork in a noisy bar, an 8 km walk rally or a quiz projected in small print excludes colleagues without anyone wanting that. Team building is part of the onboarding process.
The DuoDay 2026 will take place on Thursday, November 19, throughout France. An employee welcomes a person with a disability for a day to introduce them to their profession. If your company participates, plan a collective moment that day. A short game at the end of the morning allows the pair to meet the team in a relaxed setting.
Registration takes place on the official website duoday.fr. Some public employers are closing their offices as early as November 5th. It’s better not to wait.
Inclusive team building is a cohesion activity that every employee can fully experience, with or without a disability. The adaptation does not come at a later stage, for just one person. It is planned from the outset. A sign read out aloud and displayed on the screen helps a person who is deaf. It also helps the colleague who had just returned from the coffee machine when the announcement was made.
The accommodations that are useful for a person with a disability often benefit the entire group. Older employees, pregnant women, or simply tired people also benefit from them.
80 % of the disabilities are invisible. Yet 92 % of the French underestimate this proportion, according to the Agefiph-Ifop barometer published in September 2025. It can be a chronic illness, a dysregulation disorder, a mental disorder, a hearing loss, or persistent pain.
For the organizer, this changes one thing. No one should have to reveal a diagnosis to get a chair, a break, or written instructions. Offer these options to everyone, without any conditions.
Some companies turn SEEPH into a role-playing game. The participants wear blindfolds or sit in wheelchairs for ten minutes. We do not recommend this format. Ten minutes with a blindfold say nothing about the daily life of a blind person. Disability becomes a game challenge.
If you want to raise awareness, entrust it to the people concerned or to a specialized association. Pay them for their intervention. This is also what the guide recommends. « Making an event accessible » directed by the collective Les Dévalideuses and broadcast by the City of Paris.
Add a free field in the registration form. An open question is sufficient, for example: «Do you need any adjustments to fully enjoy the activity?». Specify who will read the answer. Provide a written contact and a phone number. If your company has a disability contact person, include them in the brief from the very beginning.
Don't rely solely on the place's profile. Go there in person. Committee of Paris 2024’s brochure on organizing accessible events gives precise benchmarks.
Also check the height of the tables. A worktop that is too high prevents a person in a wheelchair from participating in a cooking workshop.
Sensory comfort is just as important as physical access. Clear soundproofing prevents instructions from being lost in the noise of the room. For people wearing hearing aids, a magnetic loop significantly improves listening. Make sure it is activated before the start. Our team sounds and lights can install sound equipment adapted to the room and the group.
Avoid strobe lights and report in advance about intense light effects. Plan for a quiet area away from the game, where everyone can isolate themselves for a few minutes without needing to justify their presence.
The pace matters too. An hour-long show without a break exhausts some of the group. We recommend a break every 45 minutes or so, with seats available everywhere.
Give each instruction in two ways, orally and in writing. Use bold characters, strong contrast, and pictograms. For people with intellectual disabilities, the Paris 2024 guide recommends a «Easy to read and understand» (FALC) document. If a participant communicates using sign language, reserve an LSF interpreter as early as possible.
An inclusive game is never based on just one ability. If all the challenges require running, reading quickly, or hearing perfectly, some members of the group will fall behind. Mix the memory, observation, taste, logic, and creative challenges.
Form mixed teams. Assign different roles, such as captain, scribe, strategist, or spokesperson. Each contributes from their own place. Also eliminate the individual elimination rounds. No one should be left alone on the sidelines watching the others play.
The Ultimate Blind Test Focusing on the musical memory of the entire team. We play sitting down, as a team, without physical effort. To make it accessible to deaf or hard of hearing people, alternate the musical parts with visual ones, such as emojis or images to identify. The teams answer to written or verbal instructions, as chosen.
Visit culinary team building It appeals to the sense of taste, smell and touch. It offers a good ground for inclusion. On October 19, we organized the Integration morning for the Pomona trainees in Antony. Forty young people competed in four challenges using a game currency. The program included an emoji quiz, a «Just Weight» test to estimate quantities, the choice of a surprise basket, and the preparation of a juice judged by the host.
This format lends itself well to adaptations. «Le Juste Poids» is played by touch. The quiz can be read out loud in addition to the display. The juice is prepared on a table at an appropriate height. Finally, display the exact composition of each ingredient, for allergies and special diets.
With the participatory theater, In our show, our actors play among the guests. Each chooses their level of involvement. Some get on stage, others react from their seats. This freedom is suitable for people who are anxious in public or who get tired quickly. Plan for seats with good visibility. Place the people who read lips near the actors.
Some formats require more preparation. The escape game is often played in a closed room, under a timer, with subdued lighting. This environment can be challenging for claustrophobic, visually impaired, or sensitive people. The urban rally requires long walks, sometimes on cobblestones or steep slopes.
These activities remain possible with variations. A version in a room, puzzles placed on a table, or a shortened course are often sufficient. Plan for them from the brief rather than on the day of the event.
The presenter sets the framework of the game. His attitude is just as important as the equipment. professional microphone animator apply a few simple reflexes.
These reflexes take up the advice given by the guide distributed by the City of Paris. They also complement our practice of conducting interviews on conventions, running races and integration days.
This format is suitable for groups of 20 to 60 people, for example on Thursday during DuoDay.
Adjust the length of the sessions to suit your audience. A short morning that ends in good spirits is better than an entire day that exhausts the group.
An inclusive team building requires little resources and a lot of attention. A proven venue, consistent guidelines, regular breaks, mixed teams and varied activities change the experience of several colleagues. The SEEPH, from November 16 to 22, provides a good reason to get started. These tips remain useful throughout the rest of the year, for your seminars and your end-of-year parties. To prepare your SEEPH event or another team-building highlight, contact Public Anim. We build a customized activity with you, designed for all the people in your team.
